Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 11, 2026
At the Community Services Council of Woodbury, Inc., your trust means everything to us. Whether you’re a donor, a volunteer, or a neighbor coming to the Woodbury Food Bank, this policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.
Information We Collect
We only ask for what we need to serve our community:
- Neighbors we serve: When you visit the Woodbury Food Bank or take part in our programs, including the Pet Food Program, we may collect your name, address, phone number, and household details. This helps us confirm Woodbury residency and make sure we’re meeting your household’s needs.
- Donors: When you give, we collect your name, contact information, and the amount and date of your gift so we can thank you and send a tax receipt. Online donations are processed securely by [payment processor]. We never see or store your full card number.
- Volunteers: When you volunteer, we collect your contact information and availability so we can coordinate schedules.
- Website visitors: Our website may collect basic, non-identifying information, such as which pages are visited, to help us improve the site.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information only to:
- Provide food assistance and other services to Woodbury residents
- Process donations and send receipts
- Coordinate volunteers, food drives, and events
- Share updates with people who have asked to hear from us
- Meet our legal and reporting obligations as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
Confidentiality for Neighbors We Serve
If you come to us for help, your information stays private. It is seen only by the staff and volunteers who need it to serve you. We do not share it with our community partners, including the businesses that support our Pet Food Program, and we never share it outside our organization unless the law requires it.
What We Never Do
We never sell, rent, or trade your personal or financial information, and we never share it with others for marketing purposes.
When Information May Be Shared
We share information only in limited cases:
- With service providers that help us operate, such as our payment processor or website host, and only for that purpose
- When required by law or to protect someone’s safety
- With your permission
Our Amazon Wish List
When you buy items from our Food Bank Amazon Wish List, Amazon handles your purchase under its own privacy policy. Depending on your settings, Amazon may share your name or a gift note with us so we can thank you. Your payment and full address are not shared with us.
Donor Privacy
If you’d like your gift to remain anonymous, just let us know and we won’t list your name in any public recognition. Like all 501(c)(3) organizations, we report certain large gifts to the IRS, but donor names and addresses from those reports are not made public.
Links to Other Websites
Our site links to other organizations, such as 211 Connecticut, ProPublica, and our community partners. We aren’t responsible for their privacy practices, so we encourage you to review their policies.
Keeping Your Information Safe
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including limiting who can access it and storing records securely. No system is perfect, but we take this responsibility seriously.
Children’s Privacy
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them online.
Your Choices
You can ask us to review, correct, or delete your information, or to stop contacting you, at any time. Just reach out using the details below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top.
