About Our Hearts & Hands
The Community Services Council of Woodbury, Inc. was founded by Woodbury residents who saw neighbors in need and came together to help. What began as a grassroots, faith-rooted effort has grown into a trusted local institution, but its heart has never changed.
Incorporated in April 1992 and recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that December, the organization took its current name in 2007 to reflect its deep ties to the town it serves.
More than three decades later, everything we do still comes back to our founders’ simple idea: Woodbury takes care of its own.
Meet Our Leadership Team
Megan Houlihan-Aceto
Executive Director
When you call CSCW, whether you need help or want to give it, the first friendly voice you hear will often be our Executive Director, Megan Houlihan-Aceto. Megan brings warmth, patience, and a deep knowledge of Woodbury to her work, and she personally walks alongside many of the neighbors we serve, from that first phone call until they’re back on their feet.
Megan joined CSCW in April 2025 with a background in nonprofit leadership, community engagement, and program development. She previously led a federally funded college access and success program at CT State Community College, supporting first-generation and low-income students in Waterbury. Having grown up in a small town in Upstate New York, she was drawn to Woodbury’s close-knit, small-town spirit, which feels a lot like home.
Megan is grateful for the warm welcome she’s received here and for the relationships she’s built with residents, volunteers, and local partners. She looks forward to growing CSCW’s impact so that every individual and family in our community feels supported, connected, and cared for.
Deirdre Bologna
Food Bank Manager
Our Food Bank Manager, Deirdre Bologna, has been part of CSCW for nearly 15 years, and her story with us started with a lemonade stand. A simple fundraiser with her young daughter introduced her to the Food Bank, and she’s been here ever since, helping make sure our neighbors have food on the table.
What began as occasionally lending a hand soon became a weekly volunteer commitment and, eventually, a calling. When longtime Executive Director Bob Taylor prepared to retire, Deirdre was hired for the newly created role of Food Bank Manager, bringing years of hands-on experience and a deep understanding of the families the Food Bank serves.
Deirdre is grateful to work alongside CSCW’s dedicated volunteers and the many local businesses, faith communities, schools, and residents who make the Food Bank’s work possible. Serving here has deepened her connection to both the community and her faith, and to her it’s more than a job: it’s the work she feels she was always meant to do.
Guided by Our Community
Governance & Community Leadership
Our Board of Directors is made up of dedicated individuals who volunteer their time to guide CSCW’s mission with care and accountability. Our board has long included clergy from several local congregations, reflecting the interfaith spirit that founded this organization.

Open & Accountable

At the Community Services Council of Woodbury (CSCW), transparency, accountability, and trust are fundamental to our mission. 100% Community-Funded
Supported Entirely by Neighbors
Here’s something important to understand about the Community Services Council of Woodbury: we receive no funding from the Town of Woodbury. Every dollar, every can of soup, every warm coat we’re able to provide comes directly from people like you — your neighbors, your local businesses, your faith community, community organizations.
That means every gift matters, and it also means you can choose exactly where your support goes, whether that’s the Food Bank, the Giving Tree, or our crisis assistance fund. When you give to CSCW, you’re not giving to a distant organization. You’re giving directly to Woodbury.
